Applying for a Thai Education Visa

Extend your stay and explore the culture of Thailand.

Joining our 4-month or 8-month or 12-month program will qualify you for the Non-Immigrant ED Visa.

Option 1 Applying for the Non-Immigrant ED Visa from Bangkok.

1. Enter Thailand

 Arrive in Thailand using a 60-day tourist visa or visa-exempt entry.

2. Visit Our School

 Bring your passport and 13 passport photos to our school.

3. Ensure Visa Validity

 Confirm you have at least 45 days remaining on your tourist visa or visa-exempt status before visiting us.

4. Complete Application Forms

 Fill out the visa application forms from the Ministry of Education at our school.

5. Wait for Approval

 Allow 2-4 weeks for the Ministry of Education to process and send you the approval letter.

6. Apply for ED Visa

 Once approved, we will assist you to immigration to apply for the ED visa on an arranged date.

7. Wait for Visa Issuance

 Wait approximately 2 weeks for immigration to issue your ED visa.

Option 2 Applying for the Non-Immigrant ED Visa from your home country.

1. Complete the Application Form

 Fill out the application form provided.

2. Email Passport Copy

 Email a copy of your passport (main page + all pages with stamps), ensuring your signature is on every page.

3. Print and Sign Forms

 Print and sign the application forms sent to you via email from the Ministry of Education.

4. Mail Required Documents

 Mail the signed forms, passport copies, and 12 passport photos to us.

5. Wait for Approval

 Allow 2-4 weeks for the approval letter from the Ministry of Education.

6. Receive Approval Letter

 Once ready, the approval letter will be mailed to you.

7. Apply for Visa

 Visit the Thai embassy or consulate in your home country to apply for the Non-Immigrant ED Visa with the approval letter.

8. Fly to Thailand

 Once approved, fly to Thailand and bring your passport to our school within the first 7 days.

Enrollees from other countries must provide police or NBI clearance and apply for the visa from their home country.

Next Steps After Receiving Your ED Visa

90-Day ED Visa for Thai Language Studies

 The ED visa for studying Thai at a language school is not issued for 6, 8, or 12 months. Note that this ED visa for language schools differs from the ED visa for universities.

Heres how the extensions work:

• First ED Visa: 90 days
• First Extension: Adds 30 days.
• Succeeding Extensions: 4 extensions add 60 days.

If you apply for all 5 extensions, your total stay can extend up to 12 months.

If you purchase courses from our school, we will assist you with the ED visa application process at no additional service fee or extra charge.

You are only paying for the Thai language courses at our school. The ED visa fee is paid directly to the embassy, consulate, or immigration office, and any extension fees are paid directly to immigration.

We are not a visa agency and do not have the authority to issue ED visas. We only support the documents needed to process it.

Meet Us at Our School

 After receiving your 90-Day Single Entry Non-Immigrant ED Visa from a Thai embassy or consulate and entering Thailand, you must visit our school with your passport within 7 days.

 We need to submit copies of your passport and ED visa to the Ministry of Education to process your extension.

Extending your ED Visa

 Once its close to the end of your first 90 days, you will be required to extend your ED visa at immigration on a regular basis.

The cost for each extension is 1,900 baht. Be ready for a brief interview in Thai with the immigration officer. Dont worry; the questions are

usually basic, such as:

"What is your name", "How old are you", "Where are you from", and etc.

If youve been attending lessons and doing your homework, these questions will be easy to answer.

In most cases, youll receive a 60-day extension if you can prove to the immigration officer that youve been studying Thai. If you cant provide sufficient evidence, you might get a 30-day extension. In the worst case, you could be given only 7 days to prepare for departure from Thailand.

90-Day Report

1. Report Frequency: Every 90 days.

2. First Report: Can be done with your visa extension if you stay in Thailand continuously.

3. Following Reports: Must be done separately from visa extensions.

4. Online 90 days Reporting: Available 15 to 7 days before your report date.

5. In-Person Reporting: Accepted 15 days before to 7 days after your report date.

6. Late Report Penalty: 2,000 baht if reported more than 7 days late.

Re-Entry Permit

 If you plan to leave Thailand while on an ED visa, make sure to apply for a re-entry permit. Without it, your ED visa will be canceled upon re-entry.

Fees:

• Single-use permit: 1,000 baht
• Multiple-use permit: 3,800 baht

Where to Obtain:

• Immigration office
• Airports (Suvarnabhumi and Don Muang)

Important Notes:

• A re-entry permit does not exempt you from visa extensions. You must return to Thailand on time for your extension or your ED visa will be revoked.
• The permit is valid only as long as your current "extension of stay" stamp is valid.
• Leaving Thailand with a re-entry permit keeps your extension status active. Without it, your visa will be canceled, and you'll be admitted with the same "admitted until date" as your extension of stay.
• The countdown for your 90-day report resets each time you re-enter Thailand. Your next 90-day report will be due 89 days from the date you re-enter, as Thai immigration counts the day of entry as day 1.

Additional Tip:

• Do not discard your old 90-day report receipt, even if the due date is incorrect. Keep it and submit it with the TM.47 90-day reporting form when filing your next report.

Are Refunds Available?

Yes  - we offer a refund if your application is not approved by the Ministry of Education.

No - if your application is rejected by the Thai embassy, consulate, or immigration.

To fully understand our refund policy, it is important to be familiar with the application process.

 Case 1 - Ministry of Education Approval (Refund Guaranteed)

The first step in the process is obtaining an approval letter from the Ministry of Education (MOE). To begin, all applicants must complete our application form and provide a copy of their passport along with 12 passport-sized photos. After making the full payment, we will submit these documents to the MOE.

If your application is rejected by the MOE, Sthaidy Language School will issue a full refund minus a 2,000 baht administrative fee.

While our visa assistance service is provided free of charge and we do not impose registration, admin, or processing fees, a 2,000 baht admin fee will be applied to cover expenses in the event of a refund.

 Case 2 - Visa Application (No Refund)

Once your application is approved by the Ministry of Education, you will be authorized to study Thai in Thailand.

The next step is to secure permission to stay in Thailand by submitting the MOE approval letter to a Thai embassy, consulate, or immigration office to apply for your education visa.

Please be aware that we do not offer refunds if your visa application is rejected by the embassy or consulate.

Reasons for No Refund:

 Choice of Embassy or Consulate: It is your responsibility to research and choose the embassy or consulate, as their policies and strictness can vary. This decision is entirely yours.

Past Record: Your application may be denied and we cannot be held accountable for these factors:

1. past criminal record or if you are blacklisted for previous issues.

2. overstaying,

3. border bouncing

4. excessive tourist visa applications

5. working illegally in Thailand

 Political Issues: If there are political tensions between Thailand and your home country, it could impact your ability to obtain an education visa. It is crucial to verify this with the Thai embassy or consulate before enrolling to our school.
